Transcranial magnetic stimulators (TMS) are a non-invasive method of brain stimulation that utilizes electromagnetic induction to conduct research and deliver therapeutic treatment.
The medical device contains an insulated coil which generates brief magnetic pulses that pass painlessly through the skull and into the brain. When used for therapeutic means, these pulses are repeated multiple times to produce longer lasting changes. These pulses are delivered approximately once per second for thirty minutes to an hour multiple times a week. While one pulse per second is often used, devices are capable of reaching higher rates. This treatment is generally referred to as repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) and it has been tested as a means to treat a variety of neurological and psychiatric disorders.

General Report Contents

• Market Analyses include: Unit Sales, ASPs, Market Value & Growth Trends
• Market Drivers & Limiters for each chapter segment
• Competitive Analysis for each chapter segment
• Section on recent mergers & acquisitions

This market contains diagnostic, clinical and research units. The majority of the install base is currently research units since therapeutic clearance only occurred in the past decade in Europe. The majority of growth in unit sales over the projected period will therefore be clinical units. Growth in unit sales of research units will not be as high.
The largest market is currently Germany with larger markets in France, United Kingdom and Italy as well. These areas have higher populations and also conduct more research. Certain companies also charge a premium compared therefore all of these aspects should be considered in the ASP. The ASP will not grow significantly over the forecast period as new competitors tend to introduce competitive pricing. Positive reimbursement trends will continue which will encourage prices to stay relatively high. Research units therefore may become less expensive whereas clinical units will grow in ASP with reimbursement. All of these factors combined will make the ASP fairly stable.
