Ethiopia since the Millennium is experiencing very rapid economic growth. One of the bottlenecks it faces to maintain the momentum is its very low level of exports but this is also an opportunity if they can be increased. It is still primarily an agricultural economy with the commodities sector underexploited. There is geopolitical tension with Egypt over the Blue Nile dam and with Eritrea over Tigray province as well as port access. The country is a participant in China's Bet & Road and China can expect to become the dominant trading partner in the years to come.
